"ALS and US"
My name is Jim
and I have Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou
Gehrig's
disease in the
My condition is 100% fatal--unbeatable and untreatable for more than 138
years.
There is certainly no comfort knowing that an unknown number of people share
my condition.
This site is intended to raise public awareness of ALS, to share information
among patients and caregivers, as well as provide an open forum for victims
and their caregivers to express their thoughts to the public.
It is my humble opinion that we are all too often the bait in donation schemes. When you try to get a message to the people whose income is taken out of those donations--they try to shut you up. Some of our "National Organizations" are stuck in status quo mode and a change in attitude is needed. How do you think that HIV/AIDS research became the highest federally funded disease. It certainly was not by kowtowing to politicians. Politicians are afraid that they will loose their seat if they do not support HIV/AIDS research 100%. This is the atmosphere that we must create in order to get some recognition and more federal research funds
